FOURTH OF JULY

Every July 4th, the city of Greenville, Texas has a parade on Park Street (which happens to be the street that my grandma lives on).  It has been a Lauer family tradition for about the last five years or so to get together on that week and to watch the parade.  Jeff, being the radio personality type that he is, videos and makes commentary on the parade.  It's quite fun and makes us all laugh. Aferwards, we play games and eat good food.  My dad always enjoyed it too. He was very much missed by us all this year.

SHELLY'S BIRTHDAY

July 1st was my mom's birthday and everyone helped out to make it a very special "surprise" birthday for her :)
Aunt Dawn and Sarah Hutchins came up with the idea of baking cupcakes and decorating them for my mom to choose her favorite. My mom wanted to pick them all (we knew that would happen because she is the nicest person ever), but finally she did choose one :)
While we all sang "happy birthday" my mama was brought to tears.
Thank you so much everyone for doing this and for making it so special. It meant a lot. We love you all.

LAUER FAMILY REUNION

GRANDMA PHYL

Sorry it's been a little while since we've blogged.  My mom and I went to Greenville, TX for a Lauer family reunion. My Grandma Phyl, who is 84 and has survived two bouts of cancer, is still as spunky as always :-)
My grandma never thought that she would outlive her very healthy and energetic son, Kit, who was so much like her. We love you grandma.

Uncle Buddy came from Maui, and Aunt Dawn and her husband Jeff came from California. Cousin Carol came from Colorado, and grandma's longtime friend CJ came from Minnesota. My friend Nicole drove four hours from Houston to be with us as well, thanks Nicole!
It was also nice to see my grandma's Greenville friends, who have become our friends over the years. The wonderfully amazing Hutchins family...we just adore them! :) Judy and Clay, Paul and Jeanne, Gloria and Charles...they have all been such faithful friends to my grandma.
