How Kit is Doing

My dad found out yesterday from his blood test that his cancer cells are increasing at a very high rate.  The normal white blood cell number is between 4 and 11.  My dad's count is over 100.

This is not good as the cells multiply at an exponential rate; so, when something kicks them in and they start going...they go fast. These bad white blood cells (blast cells) eventually make the blood very thick and useless and transfusions will not work.  Another round of chemotherapy is not really an option as my dad is so weak and fragile, and I don't think the doctors would allow it.  This is typically how acute leukemia progresses and so, in the physical, it is not really a surprise.

That being said, we ask for prayer because God is bigger than that and He made our bodies.  His will is going to be done...and I am praying that His will is to keep my dad around a little longer. I know you all want that too.  My dad is still planning on speaking this friday...so, for those of you who can't make it, and are on facebook, you can watch a live feed when you join the group "The Gathering Maui".

Here is a verse that our good friends, Joe and Karen Johnson, put on their blog for my dad I thought that it was awesome:

There was given me a thorn in the flesh. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me...For when I am weak, then I am strong. II Cor 12:7-1

We love you all so much and are so thankful for you.

Dear Kit, Shelly, Miasha and Mikey,

My son, Ryan, in Washington state, just called to tell me he and his family are praying for you Kit. He and his family are so familiar with you even though they have not met you personally. They ask me about you all the time.
Charlie and I are praying for you and your family. You are so very loved. We faithfully wait for Friday to see and hear you again.
Our prayers will continue.

Dear Lauer family,
I pray every day for you. Our God's Hand is not shortened and His Ear is not deaf. I pray that He, the God of all comfort, will Himself be your Peace, Comfort and JOy. Kit, I still pray for a miracle since our Lord is still in the miracle business.
love you guys

I was moved to forgiveness after last Friday night. My best friend from high school and I have not spoken in 4 years. He really hurt me and my family. After Friday night, I knew what I had to do. If God can forgive me of all the things I have done and pay the ultimate price, then what the heck am I doing? I sent him a message on Facebook, forgiving him of what he had done and asking him to forgive me for walking away from him. We talked for the first time in 4 years last night. It was awesome! Thank you Kit for your wisdom and advise. I am trying to practice forgiveness and it isn't east, but totally worth it!!!

I am at a loss for any words, just prayer. We will be so excited to hear you on Fri night but please be safe and think of yourself and your family. I know you think of the church ohana as your family as certainly we do you. It has been a journey for sure. You have been strong and so full of Gods love. You are always saying thank you but truly you are the ones to be thanked. Love Nick and Sharon

Kit,
My husband and I have been going to Maui for the past 27 years. We attend Hope Chapel when we're there.
You have fighting this battle for such a long time, but you must hold on to your faith. Our God is the One who created the universe, set the planets in motion, and raised Jesus from the dead. I KNOW He CAN and WILL heal you in HIS time. His timing is perfect - seldom too soon, but never too late.
God bless you, Kit.

Jer.17:7-8-"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose faith is in Him.He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes:its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."Kit,you and your family are living out these verses in such a powerful way! Jesse and I were able to watch and listen to the Fri.night service online. We were transfixed the entire time, realizing God was truly speaking thru you.Only the Good Lord could give you that strength and endurance at this stage of your life. You will be glad to know that Jesse never dozed off once the entire time!! Still praying for that miracle!Joyce and Jesse

My Friend,

This mornings scripture is Romans 8:25:

If we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

You are such a fine example of this scripture.

Love you,

Mele
