The Puppy

From Kit:

"I was reminded by my friends who run Hawaii Canines for Independence how much we as human beings respond to just pure love. I've always loved dogs and how they love unconditionally. They don't care about how you smell, or what you look like, or what you wear. When they hear your voice their little tails start wagging...they just want to be near you. They truly love you for better or worse.

That's what we all really want and need, and the beautiful thing is that we have the opportunity to give that kind of love to each other. I really think (believe) the source of that opportunity flows from the One that created us. He gives each of us an opportunity in each of our lives to be like that little puppy to give that touch to someone...our family, our friends, our children, our spouses.

It's really a choice that we make to either be consumed by the ups and downs that we face in life, and all of the pressures, or to focus on the flow of that type of unconditional love that God is so willing to give to us and, in turn, to give it to others.

Basically, just take a deep breath from whatever you are struggling with today and just trust that God will give you a gift that exceeds anything you could ever imagine."

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

-Ephesians 3:20

My dad's update is that he has minimal side effects. He has not suffered any major side effects or infections at this point which is a blessing. He still has an appetite right now and he also has family members attending to him and good medical care.

We are all praying for a miraculous healing from God. and that when they do the bone marrow test in a little less than 2 weeks it will show no cancer cells in the marrow.

we thank you again for everything and please know that Kit is getting your emails, blog comments etc and I try to read them to him as much as possible.

Much love from the Lauers (thank you Mo for the picture)

Dearest Kit:

I give thanks to our wonderful & glorious God for answered prayer for you, in that, you are not suffering the affects to this chemo round "full on", as they had anticipated. I'm glad to hear your up and moving and continue to eat a bit too. Thank you for writting to us when you are able. Your words are precious to all of us and hearing from you is encouraging to all the Prayer Warriors that continue on in this battle with you; making our requests known to Jesus and standing in agreement for your manifested Healing.

Thank you too, to all your family who so diligently keep this blog updated daily. I love the photos! I so appreciate you & your family taking time to write to us. It keeps us connected. My love to you Kit and all the Lauer Family.

Hi Kit,
So glad you liked the puppy photos!
Our ohana group is studying Colossians right now. This week we considered the verse "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way...." The question was raised, "what is a life worthy of the Lord?" I thought "a life of love" and immediately thought of you. You are such an inspirational example of God's love and how He wants us to live.
We love you and are so thankful to have you in our lives. We are paying daily for your complete recovery.
Yours in Christ,
Will and Mo

I LOVE your "teaching" today....I once read somewhere that unconditional love only comes from two places: dog and GOD. But your explanation is much better than this condensed version.

I had a rough week this week, and my therapist told me things are ok because God is proud of me. No works or actions are needed to receive this---God is proud as long as we "get on the bike and try".

God is certainly proud of you for your decision to fight this all the way-- for these amazing blogs you are able to post (with some help, of course :) ) and how much you are changing lives from your hospital bed; how much encouragement we receive from reading your words.

I am grateful the side effects are minimal right now. We are all on board for ten straight days of prayer for freedom from those blast cells.

Always praying,
Lisa E.

Of puppies and butterflies, thank you Kit for your encouragement and the example of your response to press in to God and minister to others in the journey. The other day I had a chance to sit down with my mom here in Bellingham WA and we listened to your online sermon together "About complaining" that you gave just before your diagnosis. That sure goes on in our family, and it gave a very good platform for discussion and opportunity to grow closer. mahalo for that word, and for LIVING IT through these days.

The sight out my sister's windows here is filled with green pasture, new leaves sprouting on the trees and cherry and apple trees in full bloom: a picture of the beauty and new life that comes from our Creator.

and now a little trip from WA to the valley in Ezekiel:

Son of man, can these bones live?...Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you and you will come to life...then you will know that I am the LORD.

We speak to your bones and pray that death and dryness come to old bad cells and be replaced by new life of spring!
